How to use RFP Tree.

A short, practical reference. Sign up, browse, upgrade, cancel, and find what to do when something is broken. If a question is missing, write info@rfptree.com and we will add it.

01 / Getting started

Sign up, browse, and add opportunities.

What RFP Tree is

RFP Tree is a federal opportunity aggregator. We pull active solicitations, grants, SBIR topics, contract vehicles, and award notices from public sources (SAM.gov, Grants.gov, SBIR.gov, USAspending.gov, and others), normalize them, and present them in a search and pipeline interface that does not require a five-figure annual subscription. Free accounts see 10 pre-curated opportunities that rotate periodically. Paid tiers unlock the full feed, search, pipeline tools, and agentic API access.

How to create an account

RFP Tree uses passwordless magic-link sign-in. There is no password to forget. Steps:

  1. Click Sign in in the avatar dropdown (top right of any page).
  2. Enter the email address you want to associate with the account.
  3. Open your inbox and find the message from auth@rfptree.com. The subject line includes "Sign in to RFP Tree."
  4. Click the link in the email. The link expires after a short period; if it has expired, request a new one.
  5. You land back on RFP Tree, signed in. Your tier shows in the upper right corner.
If the email does not arrive

Check spam. Make sure the address is spelled correctly. If your IT department filters inbound mail, ask them to allow auth@rfptree.com. If the email still does not appear within a few minutes, write info@rfptree.com with the address you are trying to use.

How to browse opportunities (paid tiers)

Search and full-feed browse are paid-tier features. Once you upgrade to Premium or above, the RFPs tab is the main feed. The page is organized as follows.

  1. Use the search bar at the top to type a natural-language query, for example: "NASA SBIR topics for ISRU closing this month." Press Enter.
  2. Use the type tabs (Solicitations, Pre-Solicitations, SBIR/STTR, Grants, Challenges, etc.) to narrow what you are looking at.
  3. Use the chip filters below for set-aside (8(a), HUBZone, WOSB, SDVOSB), value bands ($1M, $10M, $100M+), and procurement level (Federal, Local, International).
  4. Click any opportunity card to open the detail pane on the right. It includes the full description, attachments, agency, NAICS code, set-aside, value, due date, and a link out to the original posting.
  5. Click the bookmark icon on a card to save the opportunity to your tree on the My Trees tab.

Free accounts see only the 10 rotating pre-curated opportunities; the search bar, type tabs, and chip filters are visible but do not return additional results until you upgrade.

Tier overview

RFP Tree has a free tier, plus two independent paid surfaces: database subscriptions (per-seat monthly access to the full feed and pipeline tools) and agentic queries (pre-paid balance for programmatic queries against the live index). You can subscribe to a database tier, top up an agentic balance, both, or neither. Click Upgrade to Pro in the header (or the Pricing item in the avatar dropdown) to see the live pricing modal.

02 / Billing

Upgrade, manage, and cancel.

How to upgrade

  1. Click Upgrade to Pro in the header, or Pricing in the avatar dropdown.
  2. Pick a tier and click its Subscribe button.
  3. You are redirected to Stripe Checkout. Enter your card and billing details.
  4. On successful payment, Stripe returns you to RFP Tree. Within roughly 30 seconds your account tier auto-updates via Realtime sync. The Upgrade button is replaced with your tier badge.
  5. If the tier does not flip within a minute, sign out and sign back in to force a refresh. If it still does not update, see the FAQ below.

How to manage your subscription

Subscription management is handled by Stripe's customer portal. We do not store your card or generate invoices ourselves. Steps:

  1. Click your avatar (top right), then Account.
  2. On the Account page, click Manage Billing. The button only shows if you are on a paid tier.
  3. You are sent to the Stripe-hosted customer portal. From there you can update your card, switch plan (upgrade or downgrade), download invoices, and cancel.
  4. When you finish in the portal, click the return link to come back to RFP Tree.

How to cancel

Cancel from the Stripe customer portal (same path as above): AccountManage BillingCancel plan. The cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep full access until then, and you are not charged again.

What happens after cancellation

At the end of the current billing period, your account drops to Free tier. Opportunities you saved or added stay in your account. You lose access to the full feed, advanced filters, and any tier-gated tools (EZ Estimator, active bid tracking, amendment tracking). Re-subscribe at any time and your saved data is still there.

Refund policy

If you need a refund, write info@rfptree.com within 14 days of the charge. Include the email address on the account and the date of the charge. We review requests case by case. Outside the 14-day window, fees are non-refundable; the cancellation flow above stops future charges.

03 / FAQ

Common questions.

Where do the opportunities come from?

The federal feed pulls from SAM.gov (active solicitations, awards, entity registrations, and the FPDS / eSRS data that SAM absorbed in February 2026), Grants.gov, SBIR.gov, USAspending.gov, and Challenge.gov's successor for prize competitions. Agency-specific sources include NASA NSPIRES, DARPA, the Space Development Agency, USSF SSC, MDA, DOE ARPA-E, NSF, Navy NECO, and DLA DIBBS. State and local opportunities come from individual state procurement portals.

We do not own the underlying data. Source data accuracy is the responsibility of the issuing agency. Verify any opportunity with the original posting before relying on it for a bid decision.

How often is the data refreshed?

Federal solicitations refresh every day. Some sources are faster (SAM opportunities pull every 15 minutes during business hours), and a handful of slower-moving sources refresh weekly. The "Just Posted" sidebar item shows opportunities added in the last 24 hours.

Can I export opportunities?

CSV export of saved opportunities is on the roadmap for Premium and above. It is not live yet. If you need a custom export in the meantime, write info@rfptree.com and tell us what fields you need.

Is my email address shared?

No. We never sell, rent, or share your email address with third parties. We use it only to send you account-related messages (magic link sign-in, billing receipts, and the optional weekly newsletter). You can opt out of the newsletter at any time from your account settings.

I'm not getting magic link emails.

Three things to check, in order:

  1. Look in your spam or junk folder. Magic-link emails sometimes land there on first sign-in.
  2. Verify the email address is spelled correctly. The send goes to whatever you typed; a typo means it never arrives.
  3. Check whether your mail provider or company filter is blocking auth@rfptree.com. Ask IT to allow it, or add it to your safe-senders list.

If none of those resolve it, write info@rfptree.com from a different address (or have a teammate write on your behalf) and include the address you are trying to sign in with.

I paid but my tier didn't update.

Tier should auto-sync within about 30 seconds via Realtime once Stripe confirms the charge. If it has been longer than a minute and your tier badge still says Free:

  1. Sign out from the avatar dropdown, then sign back in. This forces a fresh tier fetch.
  2. Hard-refresh the page (Cmd+Shift+R on Mac, Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows).
  3. If the tier still has not updated, write info@rfptree.com with the email address on the account and the time of the charge. Stripe occasionally delays webhooks; we can manually reconcile.
Can I share my account?

Each subscription is a single-user license. Sharing logins across multiple people is not permitted and will trigger a session-conflict warning. If you need access for a team, write info@rfptree.com with the number of seats you need; we set up team plans on request and the Enterprise tier is built for multi-seat orgs.
